These cups were inspired by a customer request. They wanted the whiskey snifter experience tailored to tea. The shape of the cup directs aromas strongly up toward you nose making this a great way to drink floral teas like Jingmai Pu-erh, or Taiwanese high mountain oolongs. This cup is unglazed and will therefor take on seasoning. The tea oils will very slowly absorb into the clay softening the surface and changing its color. Because the clay is fired close to fully vitrified (glassified) it’s perfectly fine to use different teas but over time the cup will give you the best experience if it’s used for teas with similar flavor profiles.
